About the estate

Chikkanahalli X Anaikadu

In 1926, Emmanuel Thomas Ramapuram (Sr) acquired the 300-acre Chikkanahalli Estate from the British, a Robusta plantation nestled by the Dubare forest known for its biodiversity. Among the estate's features were old Liberica trees acting as a wind barrier. Motivated to showcase the coffee's finest, Emmanuel ventured into producing specialty-processed Liberica naturals.

The estate's Robusta gained acclaim, securing a top 5 spot in the Coffee Board of India's Know your Kaapi cup tasting initiative in 2023. Processing the Liberica fell to Kurian and Nisha at Anaikadu estate, where these large-sized Liberica cherries underwent 72-hour anaerobic fermentation before meticulous drying in full shade, with regular raking for uniformity.

Emmanuel Thomas Ramapuram, aka Kuttappan, renowned as Chairman of Orange County Resorts (now Evolve Back Resorts) and a visionary farmer rooted in Coorg's agricultural heritage. Despite his prominence in luxury hospitality, Emmanuel's true passion lies in farming, evident at his meticulously managed 250-acre estate in Karadigodu, Coorg. His hands-on involvement, coupled with innovative investments in infrastructure, reflects his dedication to blending tradition with modernity. Collaborating with him on crafting exceptional coffee is a privilege, showcasing his rare mix of tradition and innovation.

Storage Instructions

  • Keep your coffee beans in an air-tight container. The container should be made of a material that is not prone to moisture.
  • Keep your coffee beans in the original packaging you received, since it is food safe, and resistant to moisture, and you can remove the air from the bag once you close the bag.
  • Store your beans in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing them in areas that are exposed to direct sunlight or humidity.
  • Whole beans are more resilient to flavor change than ground coffee, so it is best to store them in whole-bean form.
  • Try to buy coffee in small quantities that you are likely to consume within a few weeks. This will help to ensure that the beans remain as fresh as possible.
  • Try to avoid storing coffee beans in the fridge or freezer. This can cause the beans to absorb moisture and degrade in quality.
