About the estate
Hippla Estate, steeped in rich heritage and tradition, derives its name deeply rooted in the Kannada language, signifying the embrace of the sprawling banyan tree ā "Hippikonda Alada Mara." The term "Hippikonda" beautifully captures the essence of outreach and outspread, reflecting the spirit of its ancestors who originated from Melagiri, not far from the village. During the challenging times of the great plague, they found solace beneath the grand banyan tree, symbolizing resilience and community.
Seventeen years ago, the government relocated the estate to facilitate the transformation of its ancestral land into the Bhadra Tiger Reserve, allowing the forest to thrive. Despite these changes, Hippla Estate holds dear the heritage of its roots and strives to preserve its identity. Thus, Hippla Farms stands as a tribute to its history, a homage to the community that once flourished beneath the expansive branches of the banyan tree.
Managed by Nesara HD and Raghi Hippla, Hippla Estate comprises three main farms: Galigudde, Kalavese, and Dinnekere. Located in Chikmagalur, Karnataka, at the foothills of the Chandradrona Mountain Range near the Bhadra River, the estate boasts a meticulous approach to coffee production, from processing to plantation management. In addition to coffee, Hippla Estate also cultivates areca nut and pepper, diversifying its agricultural portfolio.
Galigudde, or "Windy Hills" in Kannada, serves as the heart of its coffee production. Surrounded by the vibrant greenery of the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, it is home to a diverse array of wildlife. The Kalavese region, known as the "Village of Boulders," predominantly yields Robusta coffee, with a smaller section dedicated to Arabica, while Dinnekere remains a symbol of tradition as the estate's inaugural organic coffee farm.
Through preservation of its heritage and dedication to quality, Hippla Estate continues to honor its legacy, embodying the spirit of resilience and community that has defined it for generations.

Storage Instructions
- Keep your coffee beans in an air-tight container. The container should be made of a material that is not prone to moisture.
- Keep your coffee beans in the original packaging you received, since it is food safe, and resistant to moisture, and you can remove the air from the bag once you close the bag.
- Store your beans in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing them in areas that are exposed to direct sunlight or humidity.
- Whole beans are more resilient to flavor change than ground coffee, so it is best to store them in whole-bean form.
- Try to buy coffee in small quantities that you are likely to consume within a few weeks. This will help to ensure that the beans remain as fresh as possible.
- Try to avoid storing coffee beans in the fridge or freezer. This can cause the beans to absorb moisture and degrade in quality.
